HPI Founded. First offices open in Grosvenor Gardens, London.

1938
1947

HPI gain access to stolen vehicle information from the Police.

HPI accesses car accident information from leading insurance companies.

1980's
1990's

HPI is acquired by 2 leading credit referencing companies: Infolink and Equifax, respectively.

NCC appoints HPI to run the Central Registration & Identification Scheme.

1992
1997

NMR (National Mileage Register) is jointly launched by HPI and IMVA (Independent Mileage Verification Association).

HPI launches its first online vehicle information check.

1999
2000

HPI & IMVA merge to create a new independent information company dedicated solely to supporting the motorist and the motoring industry alike.

HPI launches its consumer car checking services at hpicheck.com. The same year, HPI launched Motorhome Minder on behalf of SMMT.

2001
2002

HPI launches an online service to motor trade customers, including Exchange (a vehicle stock publishing facility).

HPI is acquired by Norwich Union Insurance, the largest insurer in the UK.

2004
2008

HPI is acquired by Solera Inc. a leading global provider of risk management and asset protection software in the automotive industry.

HPI celebrates 75 years of providing services to the automotive industry.

2013
2015

Now part of the Solera family, cap and hpi join to become one company, offering comprehensive, high quality services and solutions across the automotive industry.
Hpicheck.com relaunches to cement its status as leaders in the vehicle history check market

HPI launches HPI Recall and HPI Valuations.
